HIFF back at the Palace Theater!

The Palace Theater is proud to present the HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL November 19-22 again this year.  As the vanguard forum of international cinematic achievement in the Asia-Pacific regin, Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) endeavors to recognize new and emerging talent, promote career development and original collaborations through innovative education programs, and facilitate dynamic cultural exchange through the cinema arts.
Nine movies and one short are on tap for this November’s Festival.  Whatever you’re looking for, it’s right here.  Documentaries, dramas and comedies explore local indigenous people, coming of age, gay/lesbian issues, disaster and environmental concerns and food and social issues.
Foreign language films with English subtitles in Japanese, Thai, Hawaiian and Maori bring the “international” part of the Festival in focus.  In addition, all the films are either the HAWAII PREMIERE or the WORLD PREMIERE!

“In Football We Trust” (Thursday, Nov. 19 at 7pm) follows 4 talented Polynesian high school football players over a course of 4 years as they strive toward professional recruitment. This film received a Halekulani Golden Orchid Nomination for Best Documentary. Laugh out loud at the Dark Romantic Comedy “Throuple” (Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8:30pm) the story of a young couple from New York who move to Puna to rediscover themselves and each other. Learn about environmental and cultural concerns with the screening of “Sons of Halawa” (Sunday, Nov. 22 at 7:30pm).
