The Palace Theater is proud to present LIVE FROM THE EMPTY PALACE, a video series of live performances held in the empty auditorium of the Hilo Palace Theater.
While it’s currently unsafe to gather an audience in person, we are working on ways to bring the show to you! We hope you enjoy this series highlighting our deep pool of local Big Island talent. Stay healthy, stay informed, and see you back at the Palace when it’s safe out there.

Na Hoku Hanohano award nominee Ydine returns to the Palace stage for a Hana Hou performance LIVE FROM THE EMPTY PALACE. Joined by Hope Medford, Ka’ahele, and Ethan Jones, they perform Ydine’s original song “Magik.”
Sharing country vibes from the Palace stage, Bending Elbows performs an original tune inspired by the 2018 Leilani eruption. “That Lost Highway” is the title track off their 2019 album.
Tiaya performs a dazzling aerial contortion act on a mini hoop Live From the Empty Palace.
Hana Hou with Ikaika Marzo performing the iconic Hawaiian slack key melody “Ku’uipo Onaona” on his grandmother’s guitar.
Blending soulful sensibilities with rap full of his signature wordplay, Hawai’i raised Higgs performs an uplifting original song inspired by our turbulent times.
Hana Hou with Ok2Change! Imani Gentry-Faust and Jay M. Lara step into the spotlight to share their powerful song “Day Into Night,” Live from the Empty Palace. Big Island singer songwriter Ka’ahele performs her original song “Lion in a Basket,” Live from the Empty Palace. “Lion in a Basket” is off her 2018 album “The Start That Met the Tide,” available now on all digital platforms.

Hawaiian Slack Key guitarist and 3 time Na Hoku Hanohano award nominee Ben Kaili performing with Kumu Hula Iwalani Kalima & Hula Hālau O Kou Lima Nani ‘E. Together they perform hula to George Na’ope’s classic melody “Ka nani a’o Ka’u”
Hana Hou with Na Hoku Hanohano award nominee Hāwane Rios as she performs her timely track “Warrior Rising.” With the help of backup vocals, guitar and bass from supporting artists Asialynn Yap and Emma Coloma-Nakano, “Warrior Rising” is a stirring call to action off Hāwane’s latest album “Together We Rise,” now available on all digital platforms.
