The show stars Charles Bankhead Haines, Jorden Kealoha-Yamanaka, Makoa, Kaiulu Tiogangco, Sam Deitch, Alexander Knapp and choreography by Ku’uhiapo Jeong. It is being directed for the stage by Larry Reitzer, directed for film/live stream by Phillips Payson and musically directed by Charles Bankhead Haines and Asha Azama. The three-piece band is being led by Azama.
Charles Haines, a lifelong artist and entertainer, has performed in numerous theatrical productions and concerts, and toured the US in a funk band. Now based in Hilo, Haines is a music educator, an improvisational singer, and a co-producer and performer in various Palace Theater shows, including playing the Beast in the upcoming production of Larry Reitzer’s Beauty and the Beast. He spends much of his time at the beach with his partner Charlotte and their 2-year-old son Théo.
Jorden Kealoha-Yamanaka is an artist and musician born and raised here in Hilo Hawai’i. Graduating from Kamehameha schools, he’s starred in multiple plays/musicals including Hairspray and The Battle of Kuamo’o. He hopes to continue and pursue his music professionally, following his family’s footsteps
Alexander M Knapp is an circus artist, actor, musician, magician and performance artist born in Chicago. He has worked with Adventure Stage, The Neofuturists, City Opera Chicago, Super American Circus, and on Television with Green Screen Adventures. Alex is cofounder of the performance troupe BING BANG BOOM Circus.
Kaiulu Tiogangco (16) has starred in many productions which include Larry Reitzer’s Gypsy, The Wiz and Hairspray, and will be seen in the upcoming Palace production of Beauty and the Beast. In his free time, Kaiulu loves to surf and BMX and hopes to one day be a television actor.

Sam Deitch is thrilled to be back onstage. Sam was last onstage in Larry Reitzer’s productions of Aladdin, Gypsy and Home for the HiloDays alongside casts of many talented performers. Sam’s next show will be the upcoming Palace production of Beauty and the Beast.
Kuʻuhiapo Jeong is an undergraduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and a student at Hālau O Ka Ua Kani Lehua, under thr direction of Kumu Hula Johnny Lum Hō. Theatre credits include but are not limited to: Larry Reitzer’s “Biloxi Blues” (Eugene) and “Aladdin” (Aladdin) and “Once On This Island” (Daniel Beauxhomme). Notable achievement include the runner up Master Keiki Hula 2012 placement at the Queen Liliʻuokalani Keiki hula Competition.
Asha Azama is a seasoned band leader and musical director. As a recording artist and session keyboardist, he blends a modern jazz sound with an old school soul flavor. His passion for the groove and the funk is explicit in his dynamic live performance.
