AG Presents and The Hilo Palace Theater are excited to present one of Mauiʻs favorite bands, BrownChicken BrownCow Stringband, Saturday, February 8th as part of the Hilo Palace Theater’s 100 year anniversary.
Xander, Orion, Justin, and Matt are bringing the Appalachian jams to Hilo. Fresh off their sold out performances on Maui and Ohio’s Grassfire 2024 Festival (the event featured Greensky Bluegrass, Del McCoury Band, Leftover Salmon, Peter Rowan Band, and more). The energy coming off their strings is unmatched in the World of Bluegrass, Jamgrass, and Mountain Music.
Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band is a national touring band whose roots originated in the Appalachian Mountains of southern West Virginia. Band members are Orion Hitzig, Xander Hitzig, Justin Morris, and Matt Del Olmo, all of whom are multi-instrumental musicians who have spent over a decade together on and off stage. During that time they have created a rare and deep bond that can be heard and observed in their music. The band members listen and react to subtle nuances in each other’s playing that create spontaneous ripples of creativity, making their sound unique and recognizable from performance to performance.
BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand performs original music and the occasional classic of one of their influences. Their songs and melodies are influenced through the band members’ varied musical backgrounds including Bluegrass, Gypsy, Folk, Old-Time, Celtic, and even Classical. One of the strengths of the band is the devotion and level of support from their cult fanbase, regardless if the band is on the Mainland, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or Alaska… it is amazing the amount of support their friends, family, and fans bring to the band. BrownChicken BrownCow StringBand and their friends, family, and fans are a tribe, and the things they do are ‘BrownChicken. The band is grateful and humble to have a strong relationship with the people and the land of Hawaii, and very pleased to share this performance.
