An oral history documentary film exploring the legacy of the historic Palace Theater via storytelling interviews with Hilo kupuna, community patrons, Theater staff and Board members.
Once Upon a Palace is presented in celebration of the theater’s Centennial year. Accompanying the film are a selection of archival films from the time the theater opened, showcasing the bustling sugarcane industry days and railroad system around Big Island.
ONCE UPON A PALACE is directed by filmmaker and Palace Board Member Beth Block.
