Winner of the Berlinale Teddy Award, LESBIAN SPACE PRINCESS is a riotous animated sci-fi comedy from writer-director duo Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese. Shabana Azeez (THE PITT) voices Saira, a painfully shy royal heir with one big problem—she can’t summon the Royal Labrys, Clitopolis’s ultimate weapon. Things go from bad to worse when her effortlessly cool, pink-haired ex, bounty hunter Kiki (Bernie Van Tiel), is abducted by the nefarious Straight White Maliens.
Determined to rescue Kiki—and maybe win her back—Saira launches into a wild, rainbow-hued quest across the galaxy. Along the way, she confronts an outrageously offensive spaceship (voiced by Richard Roxburgh), a dazzling gay pop icon (Gemma Chua Tran), and the crippling weight of her own insecurities.
Equal parts ADVENTURE TIME and SCOTT PILGRIM, this fast-paced, neon-soaked musical extravaganza embraces queerness with unapologetic flair, endless laughs, and a whole lot of heart. LESBIAN SPACE PRINCESS doesn’t just break the mold—it smashes it with a glitter cannon and a battle cry of pure sapphic joy.
