Hawaii Performing Arts Festival is expanding! It has been very exciting working with the HPAF team to bring 4 different programs to the Palace Theater and East Hawaii. This quote from their website sums it up: “Now preparing for its twelfth season on the Big Island, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival brings together some of the most talented young musicians from Hawaii, The U.S., Canada, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, South America and Europe to Hawaii Island between late June and early August to study, grow and perform with professional music performer/ teachers. The results are astonishing.”
We have been featuring their String performance every July. Iggy Jang, Chee-Yun, Quack Moore and moth teachers and students from HPAF’s String Program, present a truly professional level concert of classical music. Don’t miss their presentation of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons on Saturday, July 16th at 7pm.
This year, in addition, they will offer the comic opera “Marriage of Figaro” on Sunday, July 17th at 7pm. The response for tickets has already been hugely successful. This is an opportunity for adults and children alike to experience the quality of their vocal program and to hear a live opera on the Palace Theater stage. This promises to be a uniquely enjoyable experience.
Finally, on Friday, July 29th, HPAF will finish off this year’s events with Sondheim’s 1977 musical “A Little Night Music”. On a magical midsummer night, lovers old and new are swept up in a dizzying whirl of romance, including the popular song “Send in the Clowns”.
Don’t miss any of these opportunities to experience truly fine music at your Palace Theater. Each of these unique performances will be a joy to ears and eyes.
