HICCUP! stands for Hawaii Island Community Circus Unity Project. HICCUP Children’s Circus has been the flagship program of Hawaii’s Volcano Circus here on the Big Island since 1987, providing summer and winter circus camps for kids annually at the SPACE (Seaview Performing Arts Center for Education) facility in lower Puna.
This summer kids in Hilo and surrounding areas can experience the thrill of the circus first hand and learn super skills like juggling, balloon twisting, hula hoop tricks, walking on a ball and riding a unicycle in the comfortable, beautiful setting of the historic Palace Theater. Professional instructors will be on hand each day to inspire kids 7 to 17 with there time honored skills and traditions of the circus. Research has shown that juggling and other circus arts can activate both the right (creative) and left (logics) sides of our brain, causing an expanded learning capacity for those who practice these arts. Come join the fun and learn new skills! Entire course is only $85 per student. Monday through Friday, July 11 – 15, with a small performance on Friday afternoon for family and friends. HICCUP Children’s Circus, the future is now!
