“MAY DAY IS LEI DAY” , a fundraising Concert event featuring live performances from Kulāiwi with Hālau Hula Kauluola & Kainani Kahaunaele with Hula Hālau O Kou Lima Nani ‘E

TICKETS: $45 Priority Orchestra, $30 General Admission

There will also be a Lei Contest & Silent Auction in the lobby prior to the show, beginning at 2pm (free entry). Winners will be announced during the concert portion of the event.

Concert starts at 3pm🎶

Funds raised from the event will go directly towards The Kupuna Component of Hawai’i Island (Ka Piko O Ka Lei Lehua O Keawe) to produce the annual Statewide conference “Aha Kupuna”, expanding education and information for kūpuna.

We have a special presentation of Nona Beamer: A Legacy of Aloha, a documentary portrait of a remarkable Hawaiian dancer, teacher, and musician.

As a child Nona ran headlong into the colonial influences that still suppressed the Hawaiian language and culture well into the 20th Century.

Through stories, songs, and dances from some of those whose lives were changed by Aunty Nona, a picture emerges of the crusader who, quietly and sweetly, helped reshaped history and restore Hawaiian culture and dance.
